Previously, the Nyerere Cup was the top knockout tournament. It was created in 1974 and was contested by teams from both Tanzania mainland and the Isles of Zanzibar.
The Azam Sports Federation Cup is an eagerly anticipated football tournament held annually in Tanzania, and is the second most widely viewed football competition in the country after the NBC Premier League.
